We pride ourselves in our approach to childcare. We have included some basic requirements and duties. If you join the VCNA Team, you will go through a very detailed training in combination with your current experience + love for children to ensure you are prepared serve families the VCNA Way.
Experience & Childcare Skills
Must be at least 21 years of age.
2 years of previous babysitting experience or childcare background preferred.
Ability to engage with children in a fun and age-appropriate manner.
Understanding of child safety and basic first aid.
Reliability & Trustworthiness
Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality with reliable transportation.
Honest, dependable, and able to follow parental instructions.
References and background check required.
Basic First Aid & Emergency Preparedness
CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of how to respond in case of minor injuries or emergencies.
Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
Strong Communication Skills
Ability to communicate clearly with both children and parents.
Provide updates on the child’s activities, meals, and behavior.
Follow parental guidelines and special instructions.
Flexible & Adaptable
Willingness to adjust to different schedules and routines.
Ability to handle unexpected situations with patience.
Comfortable caring for children of different ages.
Requirements
Babysitter Responsibilities And Duties
Child Supervision & Safety
Ensure the children are safe and cared for at all times.
Monitor playtime and prevent potential hazards.
Respond appropriately in case of emergencies.
Engaging & Entertaining the Children
Provide fun and engaging activities such as games, crafts, and storytelling.
Encourage creative and educational play based on the child’s age.
Limit excessive screen time based on parental guidelines.
Meal & Snack Preparation
Prepare and serve simple meals or snacks for the children.
Follow any dietary restrictions or meal preferences set by parents.
Ensure a clean eating area and proper food safety practices.
Bedtime & Routine Assistance
Help with the bedtime routine, including brushing teeth, changing into pajamas, and reading bedtime stories.
Follow the child’s usual schedule and any special instructions from parents.
Ensure a calm and comfortable environment for sleeping.
Parental Communication & House Tidiness
Provide parents with updates on how the time was spent.
Notify parents of any issues or concerns.
Clean up after meals, activities, and playtime, ensuring the home is as tidy as it was upon arrival.
